Advanced options
What each tool does
Images → PDF turns JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP and other pictures into one PDF. PDF → Images renders every page as a JPG or PNG. Merge joins PDFs in order, Split extracts pages or ranges, Compress re-encodes the pictures inside a PDF to shrink it, PDF → Text pulls out the text layer, and PDF → Word rebuilds it as an editable .docx with the pictures in place.
Why local processing matters for PDFs
PDFs often contain contracts, bank statements, IDs and medical records. fileio builds and restructures PDFs with a Rust engine compiled to WebAssembly and renders pages with pdf.js, entirely inside your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Which resolution should I choose?
300 DPI for printing or archiving, 150 DPI for on-screen reading, and 96 DPI when you only need small previews. Higher DPI means sharper but much larger files.
JPG or PNG?
JPG is far smaller and right for scans and photos. PNG is lossless, so pick it for pages of text, line art or diagrams you plan to edit.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Pages are rendered with pdf.js inside your browser and encoded on your device.
